A mixed instrumentation, mixed ability ensemble, aimed at young people interested in being more creative in their playing. Participants should be able to read musical notation and be comfortable on their instrument. There is no minimum grade requirement, and no prior experience in playing with others is necessary.

The Get Creative Ensemble is led by harpist and composer Rachel Groves, and supported by musicians from Any Enemy, Aberdeen's new music ensemble. Over the year, the group will be exploring improvisation and creative playing, and co-compose a new piece of music. New members of the group are welcome to join at any time.

Please note that the suggested ages are only a guideline - we encourage participants to attend the group that would be most beneficial to them at this point in their creative development. However, we typically recommend the Ensemble for young people who are already attending secondary school.

A sharing for family and friends takes place at 3.45pm each session.

Grab a recorder and explore the sounds of Aberdeen with composer and sound artist Duncan MacLeod. Discover field recording, hunt out unexpected sounds in the city and surrounding landscapes, and create recordings that will become part of The Metalization of a Dream at our Community Day.
