Training the Community Musician conference, Aberdeen, 18-19 February 2019
Wednesday 30th January 2019
Sound Sense, the UK professional association for community musicians, is working with the University of Aberdeen and others to host a conference in Aberdeen on 18-19 February.
The conference will see leaders in community music practitioners and academics gather at the university to discuss training in the sector.
The event will focus on the sharing of practices and approaches in the training of community musicians, while developing a shared understanding of the issues facing those who work in this emerging field, and how a network might support them.
The event is open to any practising community musician from the UK and abroad who has an interest in engaging with the discussion and becoming part of a growing network.
The conference will use an Open Space approach, which means that attendees will shape the agenda and topics for discussion.
Future events will be held in other UK nations, so organisers are keen to encourage those working in the Aberdeen area to take up the chance while the conversation is here on our doorstep.
Aberdeen Youth Music Forum, which is also developing a Practitioner Network, will be in attendance, so come and join the conversation and help inform both the national and local picture in relation to training and development.

Announcements on speakers and more information about the Open Space format is available on the Sound Sense website.
