Wednesday 22nd August 2018
Budding creatives now have an additional month in which to submit bids for the further £10,000 made available by Aberdeen City Council to nurture young talents as part of the city’s celebration of the Year of Young People.
The original deadline of Friday 24 August has been extended until Friday 21 September, allowing applicants, between the ages of 16 and 25 additional to submit their funding applications for up to £2k each.
The funding is for five new individual commissions following the success of the initial Creative Funding awards which 15 youth organisations and 5 individuals benefit from the initial £100k made available earlier in the year.
Councillor Lesley Dunbar, Vice Convener for Education Operational Delivery, said: “We had a tremendous response to our Year of Young People Creative Fund and we are expecting similar enthusiasm for the individual commissions funding.
“With the extended deadline, we are allowing our young people additional time to give them every chance for their submissions to be successful.”
The twenty initial recipients received a total of £84,202.00 in funding having been chosen a by a panel including the city’s Youth Ambassadors.
£5,500 is also being allocated towards a Year of Young People showcase event highlighting local talent and providing an opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate their achievements and develop new opportunities.
