AIYF Traditional Music School Course 2017
Wednesday 8th February 2017
Aberdeen International Youth Festival will run its Traditional Music School Course between Monday 31st and Friday 4th August 2017.
Led by Sharon Hassan and the North-east Folk Collective, the school will again be open to young musicians aged 11-18, from Grade 2 and above.
The course aims to build on the success of last year by providing high quality learning, performing and collaborative opportunities, as well as a chance to see other performers from across the world.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore traditional music with a contemporary twist with experienced professional tutors taking the lead. Participants are encouraged to take influences from other musical genres and inspiration from the visiting bands and musicians.
In a full programme of activity, participants will have the chance to develop their skills, learn new pieces and collaborate with others.
There will also be opportunities to see festival shows throughout the week as well as performing in their own concert on the evening on Friday, 4th August, at Aberdeen Arts Centre, where the group will collaborate with international performers.
So, if you’re interested in exploring and playing traditional Scottish Music with a contemporary twist then this course is for you!
