Scottish Hip Hop Bursary
Applications now open
The Scottish Hip Hop Bursaries will support approximately 20 applicants with grants of between £500 - £1,500 for projects that support artists working in Hip Hop to develop their practice and test out new ideas.
The programme has been developed as a partnership between Sunny Govan Community Radio, UP2STNDRD, 644 Studios and Creative Scotland, to ensure that the opportunities available are shaped by those working in the Hip Hop sector in Scotland.
The bursaries can support projects in any art form, including but not limited to music, visual arts, dance, drama, literature, and screen.
A panel including representatives from Sunny G Radio, UP2STNDRD, 644 Studios and Creative Scotland, will prioritise applications that address the following criteria:
- Support small scale projects to test out ideas and foster new relationships within Hip Hop
- Support professional development for creative practitioners
- Support under-represented artists and communities to develop their work within the genre of Hip Hop
- Support artists that do not have previous experience of receiving public funding
- Support the development of Hip Hop in Scotland.
If you have successfully received funding previously from the Scottish Hip Hop Bursary, you are eligible to apply again. However, you must not apply for the same project, and you must explain in your application how further funding will continue to contribute to your professional development.
This year we are pleased to be able to offer successful projects the opportunity to have a one-hour mentoring session with one of the partner organisations.
