Light The Blue 2025: Emerge Advice Sessions
From Aberdeen Performing Arts:
Emerging theatre maker, dance artist, writer, sound designer, musician, visual artist or filmmaker aged 18 – 30 and based in the North East? Looking for advice on how to develop your practice or get your work out there?
As part of Light the Blue 2025’s Emerging Artist programme, we’re offering local creatives the opportunity to gain advice from industry professionals through 1 to 1 sessions.
Too often we hear how cut off local artists feel from opportunities which are largely accessible to those in the central belt. This initiative is all about opening up doors and allowing artists to feel more supported, connected and motivated as creatives.
How does it work?
Throughout June, representatives from participating organisations will each be offering 30 minute sessions (in person or online, depending on base) to a small number of emerging creatives.
Participating organisations include Aberdeen Performing Arts, Association of Sound Design and Production, Imaginate, Look Again, National Theatre of Scotland, Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, Scottish Dance Theatre, Scottish Youth Theatre, Station House Media Unit and Ten Feet Tall Theatre.
For more information on each organisation and what they can offer, click here.
To register your interest in a session, complete our short online form here by Sunday 25th May at 11pm.
The form will ask you to tell us about your practice, who you would like to speak to and what you would like advice on.
To participate, you must be aged 18 – 30, based in the North East of Scotland and actively pursuing a career in the arts industry.
Sessions are limited and in the interest of fairness, we will randomly select artists to receive an advice session. Those selected will be contacted to find a suitable time to meet with the respective organisation in June 2025.
