Jobs: Temporary Emerging Teaching Artist Big Noise Torry

We are looking for a temporary Emerging Teaching Artist (Instrumental – Upper Strings, Lower Strings, Brass or Percussion – or General Musicianship) to work within the Torry community of Aberdeen working 2 days a week (15 hours) between Monday and Thursday (days to be agreed) term time only (40 weeks of the year) until 6nd July 2028. General musicianship in our context is the development of overall musical understanding and skills in our learners. It includes the use of voice, movement and instruments to support aural and reading skills, using a variety of approaches including, but not limited to, Kodaly methodology and Orff Shulwerk.
This is a graduate/early career role, designed to build experience and teaching skills whilst supporting the Big Noise team to deliver in the Torry community in Aberdeen. You will work closely with Big Noise Musicians and Support Workers, to support & deliver Big Noise sessions and instrumental lessons. Emerging Teaching Artists are also offered training opportunities on topics such as positive behaviour, lesson planning, and various methodologies including the Big Noise curriculum.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:

- A passion working in a community setting with music
- Music degree
- Professional standard of playing (at least grade 8 or equivalent) on your principal instrument or voice
